Pandit Atul Desai was an eminent Hindustani classical vocalist, a pioneer in Kathak dance music and compositions, a musical visionary, a musical experimenter and a Vaggeyakara.
The Mission of Atul Desai Foundation is to keep his legacy and his musical contribution alive.
Goals of the Atul Desai Foundation are to:
Grant certification in Kathak Dance through a structured and rigorous multi-stage curriculum
Encourage youngsters within India and abroad in the art form of Hindustani classical music (vocal, traditional, and contemporary Kathak dance and Instruments) by holding an annual open competition with a variety of prizes
Encourage and support research in Indian Classical Music in variety of areas
Foster and nurture collaboration and interaction amongst artists
All Kathak examinations are conducted at the Atul Desai Foundation (ADF) centres.
Upon successful completion of all the levels, students will be presented with “Nritya Visharad”, a degree in Kathak dance (equivalent to Bachelors in performing arts) by ADF, Ahmedabad.
